A mentor brings field experience and shares know-how and expertise with our startup teams through guidance, coaching, advice, and feedback. They serve as a valuable resource, engaging closely as discussion and sparring partners, allowing our startups to benefit from their wealth of experience.

As a mentor, we invite you to provide guidance and feedback during business panels that determine the progress of startups in AAU Startup Program, as well as other events where startups seek input and advice for their development.

Furthermore, in some cases, we will match you with our startups, assigning you as a mentor for a team. This matching process can take place at networking events or be based on connections made during business panels or other gatherings where mentors and startups meet.

Typically, the mentorship program spans six months, with approximately one meeting per month. However, it can be customized to accommodate the preferences of both you and our startups. The duration and overall design of the program will be continuously agreed upon between you and your mentees.

Being a mentor for a startup team involves providing support and dedicating time for mentor meetings. You should possess active listening skills, the ability to ask insightful questions, and the capacity to offer valuable advice

Being a mentor offers you the chance to:

• Engage with new talents and business opportunities
• Gain insights into the latest knowledge and technology
• Expand your network among companies and entrepreneurs
• Attend startup pitch presentations for providing guidance, collaboration, and similar opportunities
• Become an integral part of Aalborg University's startup ecosystem

Additionally, there may be opportunities to become a board member, temporary CEO, or similar roles.

Please note that mentorship roles are typically unpaid, and it is important to highlight that ownership stakes in the participating startups are not permitted within the program. The time commitment as a mentor will depend on the mutually agreed-upon expectations between you and the startup you are mentoring.
