Spin-outs Denmark is a program aimed at younger researchers, which you can apply for competence and business development of your technology with a goal of establishing a company.

With a grant of 75 million DKK from the VILLUM FOUNDATION, Spin-outs Denmark aims to create more research and technology-based companies that originate from the research environments at all of the country's eight universities. The goal is the creation of more jobs for the highly educated and a national ecosystem for academic entrepreneurs.

Spin-outs Denmark aims at the following goals:

To increase the universities' capacity and competences in technology transfer and commercialization.
To increase the number of researchers who become entrepreneurs.
To build a strong and well-functioning entrepreneurial community.

About the program

What can Spin-outs Denmark offer me?

Spin-outs Denmark can support you, as a junior researcher, in the process of turning research into a business by giving you:

The possibility to apply for a Postdoctoral grant with funding for up to one year.
The opportunity to apply for funding to mature your ideas or technologies with commercial potential.
The opportunity to get help from experienced mentors to develop both personal and commercial skills within entrepreneurship.
The opportunity to gain access to activities and a network that can help you further with the goal of creating a spin-out.

What are the requirements for me as an applicant and the application itself?

In order to apply to become part of Spin-outs Denmark at Aalborg University, you must fulfill the following requirements:

You are a junior researcher at Postdoc level or equivalent.
You are an inventor/co-inventor of research results with a commercial potential.
You are employed at Aalborg University.
If your research results contain IP, these must be assigned to Aalborg University at the time of start-up in Spin-outs Denmark. NB: IP is not a requirement.
Your research is within one of the following areas: Industry 4.0, Technical or Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities or non-invasive MedTech. NB: Spin-outs Denmark does not support biotech and pharma.
